IN CURVED AIR

Tonight is turning out to be a peaceful evening at home, listening to Acid Mothers Temple, reading, baking a cake, etc. I feel so domestic. Sometimes it's nice to just kick back with a drink and a slice of zucchini-chocolate chip cake, though, you know?

Anyway, the leather jacket I've been awaiting from Ebay finally arrived the other day.

I can't wait to break this thing in. The leather is so perfectly thick and comfy...

STOMPING AT THE SAVOY

Is there something in the water over in Sweden that makes them so fucking chic?

Local Firm F/W 2009... the clearer shots and more are here. It looks kind of Halston with all the brown crepe and little turban hats, but those stompy Victorian wedge boots just push everything over the edge.

Maybe it's time to give Halston another shot, sans all the Weinstein nonsense... Liza sure looks happy about it!

BOOTSY

God, I'm so tired... I got a boyfriend for my birthday and he's keeping me up nights. Yesterday we were walking around campus at 2 a.m. in the freezing slush and all I can say is, I hope he's worth potentially fatally waterlogging my beloved Dr Martins for. I think he is. Well we'll see!

So I saw these sick boots from Acne on StockholmStreetStyle and I feel like they are the answer to all my shoe prayers.

I'm so into platform boots, because walking miles and miles a day requires some actual traction. I might even have had some semi serious thoughts about creepers...

MONSTER FUR

All those so-called "monkey fur" coats from Topshop etc. are all right, but NOBODY slays it like Gloria Swanson.

SUBLIME DEGREE

Okay okay! Just one more post and I'll be done for the night, I swear.

A few months ago, when I was still living in my old town, I had a chance encounter with the most amazing antique Indian eagle ring. I might have fallen in love a little bit. It was heavy, solid sterling, and meant for big male fingers, and just expensive enough that I decided to hold off getting it until my birthday. I still haven't gotten it yet, but every time I see someone wearing a fistful of giant silver knuckledusters I get a little twinge.

This led me to searching around online for similar rings to my beloved and hopefully soon to be birthday jewelry. I hadn't found anything that really compares... but check this craziness out!

So apparently Scottish Rite masonic rings are super incredible. There's a couple more on that site. I would totally go for one if I didn't think I'd be immediately targeted by the Skull and Bones society seeking revenge for their pilfered magic regalia.

Oh, and happy my birthday! Just 23 and I don't mind dying.

CRIMPING IRON OF THE WITCHES

Looking through Facehunter just now I came across this shockheaded genius girl:

She was on StockholmStreetStyle a few months ago, pretty much blowing my mind with her witchy brilliance.

When I was visiting my friends in Boston this past weekend, every time we started talking about faaaaaashion (which you know was often), I started harping on about this or that blog and one online inspiration or another. What can I say? With girls like this out there, it’s kind of hard not to get enchanted.

A MODERN CAVEMAN

An awesome prebirthday Boston visit this weekend made me realize I'm missing out on good male fashion. I had been looking at the Milan shows on FashionSpot but there was nothing I found particularly noteworthy...

...Rick Owens makes me believe it all over again, though. Maybe I'm just entranced by the fur neckerchiefs? Not surprising, since Boston was about five degrees below antarctic the whole weekend. It made me want to curl up in a pile of chinchillas and hibernate... or go out and drink some tasty beers. Which made for a fun if freezing couple of days.

BACK ON THE RACK

Really good goth has to have an element of decomposition, like it was buried in the back garden for a few years and recently dug up again, or been shredding on your corpse as you haunt the world of the living. Daniel Ash is not only a serious guitar genius but also a frequent style inspiration to me...

Aw, nice florals, Ash.

Hurrah for Love and Rockets... and also Love and Rockets.

On a semi related note, I'm kind of weeping over this Margiela web dress, from Fashionspot.

I mean, only kind of.

FAST AND LOOSE

Style inspiration to the nth power...

Not just the killer jackets and perfect attitude, but also, uh, the serape!

Vintage Sabbat, no need to apologize for the beautiful girl hair. Strokeable!

I'ts not all dudes all the time... this shot from Paris Vogue is the ultimate. Check out how stoned the model looks, but she's probably just bored. Or, you know, working it.

BIRTHDAY WISHES

I'm in kind of a shopping mood, but unfortunately have little or no money to spend. Maybe this is a good thing in disguise... I really need to save up for a new laptop/car/place to live after I graduate...

Nevertheless these are the things I would die for if I had the cash.

Simple yet totally sweet dropcrotch leggings by Misha:

This cape hoodie from AA, all of a sudden it's everywhere but check it out, it's totally essential:

A long net skirt, even though I'm kind of afraid of looking like a Hot Topic disaster... but fuck it:

White on white translucent, black capes back on the rack... Yeah, this is pretty epic:

Black tie dye looks pretty great on this Lookbook specimen:

This necklace, need I say more:

MCQ FOR TARGET... KEEPING HOPE ALIVE?

I think I've bought one thing total out of all the Target designer collaborations so far. It's kind of sad how boring they inevitably are--I mean, they manage to get some pretty cool people involved, but somehow the collections always wind up being a cotton shift dress, cropped pants, and t-shirts. Useless!

So I'm kind of excited to see the McQ stuff so far looks decent... where are the studs on this dress, though? The vest is pretty nice...

This jacket is sweet, not too into the dress, though. Check out the girl's awesome hair, though. Flock of Seagulls are totally my inspiration, too.

There's a few more pictures at this sick blog. According to nitrolicious, the line drops in March. Hopefully it'll live up to expectations--but the cheap cotton blends Target uses make me feel a little doubtful...

BLACK LEATHER MOTORCYCLE CLUB

So I clearly have an eternal hardon for gay bikers. I dont even know when or where or how this started, but how bad could Peter Marino be, right?

(image from style.com)

He does look sort of pasty in that photo, but I mean, the guy is hands down my favorite leather daddy architect, and no mistake.

This is all kind of a bad segue into my new favorite blog EVER, WAY OUT ! The ladies who run it seriously KILL it without even trying. It is immense, and has fanned the flames of my biker lust.

I finally got my hands (well, not yet hands, so far just my PayPal) on a leather jacket with heavy zips, multiple pockets, etc. I hope it turns out to be warmer than my beloved leather from England, which is gorgeous (by MuuBaa) but really not warm enough for the increasingly brutal winter here.

I don't think it's a problem that this guy is my total style inspiration:

UNBIRTHDAY

getting closer to my birthday... it always makes me feel depressed. listening to joy division nonstop doesn't exactly ease the brainmeats either.
